How to use mindfulness throughout your day!

By practising mindfulness, meditation and heartfulness throughout your daily routine, you can create a calm and happy day for yourself. And let’s face it, we all prefer a calm day over a chaotic one.

We all have our daily routines with most of the activities being habitual. For example, brushing your teeth, taking a shower, drinking a morning coffee and taking the dog for a walk are all habits that have formed your daily routine. By making mindfulness a habit for your daily routine you will be able to switch your chaotic days for stress-free days.

Creating a habit only takes two weeks. So, whilst you are trying to create the habit, it would be beneficial to have an alarm at the same time every day to remind you of your mindfulness activity. The more regularly you practice the easier it will become a habit.

Here are some examples of when you can use mindfulness throughout your day and what you can do:

Morning: breathing, positive thinking, visualise your to do list with everything going positively and plan acts of kindness.

During the day: check in with yourself regularly, tune into your senses to bring you to the present moment, deep breathing, focusing your attention on one task at a time to be more efficient and not get overwhelmed, practise kindness/generosity/compassion, mindful listening and communication.

Evening/before bed: gratitude, guided visualisation and body scan.

These are just some of the many mindfulness activities that you can add throughout your day – and at any time you wish.

Just remember that the more you practice mindfulness the easier it becomes a habit. You might find that you prefer a few activities over others and that is fine. It’s all about being mindful in a way that suits you.

Enjoy your mindful, calm and happy daily routines!
