10 Acts of Kindness to Add Into Your Week

On the 17th of February this year, we celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day. In honour of this day, we have decided to share 10 acts of kindness that will put a smile on someone’s face.

Spreading kindness is good for the mind, body and soul. Not only are you making someone else’s day, you are actually making yourself feel good too. Joy for everyone!

We encourage you to try and make these acts of kindness weekly habits. The more positivity you give, the more you receive. These acts of kindness can be practiced by the entire family – parents, kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

1.     Be Helpful – Help someone who lives in your house. Offer to clean, garden or cook for someone.

2.     Be Caring – Show someone that you care about them. Start a conversation by asking them if they are okay.

3.     Kind Words – Spread some kindness by telling someone why they make you happy. For example, “You make me happy because you are so supportive.”

4.     Smile – Try to smile at ten people today. You can start a butterfly effect; when you smile at someone they will smile back. They will also then go and smile at another person, passing on your original smile.

5.     Make a Gift – Make something handmade to give to a friend. It could be a card, letter, drawing or craft.

6.     Give Hugs – Give three people you care about a big, warm hug.

7.     Spend Time – Spend some quality time with a loved one. Play a game with no distractions and make the other person feel special.

8.     Share – Sharing a book, toy or game with someone is a great way to show kindness.

9.     Give a Massage – Give someone in your family a massage to help them relax. A massage can make others feel calm and peaceful.

10.  Thank You Note – Write a thank note or card for someone. Let them know how much you appreciate them.

As you complete an act of kindness, take notice of how it makes you feel to spread kindness. You could feel warm and fuzzy inside after giving someone a hug. You could feel happy and proud after giving someone a gift you handmade. Whatever emotions arise, make sure you notice how you feel and savour the positivity!

And remember to complete as many acts of kindness as you can on 17th February - Random Acts of Kindness Day!
